"The Association Agreement between the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Tunisia" was signed on 25 November 2004 in Tunisia and entered into force on 1 July 2005.
Upon its entry into force, this Agreement replaced “Accord Commercial et de Cooperation Economique et Technique entre le Gouvernement de la Republique de Turquie et le Gouvernement de la République Tunisienne (signed on 15 July 1992).”
With Türkiye-Tunisia Association Agreement, tariffs and non-tariff barriers were eliminated in trade between Parties. Also, Agreement regulates numerous subjects such as sanitary and phytosanitary measures, trade in services, foreign direct investments, internal taxation, balance of payments, public procurement, state aids, intellectual property rights, anti-dumping, safeguard measures cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises and rules of origin as well as listing specific areas for cooperation.
Concerning industrial products, customs duties applied by Türkiye for the goods originating in Tunisia have been eliminated by the entry into force of the Agreement. Regarding to the goods listed in List I, List II and List III of Protocol I of the Agreement, customs duties applied by Tunisia for the goods originating in Türkiye will be eliminated gradually until 1 July 2014.
Regarding agricultural products, Türkiye and Tunisia granted each other tariff reduction and/or elimination in the form of tariff quotas for certain agricultural products originating in the other Party. Reciprocal concession lists for agricultural products are laid down in Protocol II of the Agreement.
The products that will benefit from the preferential tariffs should fulfill the rules of origin set out in Protocol III of the Agreement.
