Mauritius

Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Mauritius was signed on 9 September 2011 in Istanbul and entered into force on 1 June 2013.

Türkiye-Mauritius FTA mainly regulates the elimination of customs duties imposed on imports and exports in industrial products and of quantitative restrictions and measures having equivalent effect, exchange of concession in agricultural products, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, internal taxation, dumping, safeguard measures, payments, rules of origin and intellectual property rights.

Other than limited number of products (some apparel and shoe products) listed in Annex III of the Agreement, Türkiye eliminates the customs duties on all industrial products originating in Mauritius upon the entry into force of this Agreement. The customs duties imposed on the products listed in Annex III will gradually be eliminated within 4 years. Customs duties on imports into Mauritius for industrial products originating in Türkiye are abolished upon the entry into force of this Agreement, except for the goods listed in Annex IV and Annex V. Annex IV regulates specific dismantling schedule with maximum 9 years, whereas Annex V excludes some products from the scope of Agreement.

Concerning agricultural products, Türkiye granted Mauritius market access in form of tariff quota or duty reduction in some products, whereas Mauritius eliminated the customs duties imposed with exception of some products which are deemed to be sensitive.
